During Bacon’s Rebellion in 1676, Virginia colonists rallied against the colony’s governor, Sir William Berkeley, citing corruption, overtaxation, and a lack of representation.

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution, but it also coincides with the 350th anniversary of Bacon’s Rebellion.
