About Us
2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution,
but it also marks the 350th anniversary of Bacon’s Rebellion.
As stewards of Bacon’s Castle, a site that are intrinsically connected to this event, Preservation Virginia is leading a coalition of historic sites that are working together to present a slate of programs called “Reconsidering Bacon’s Rebellion at 350 Years.” The partner organizations, Preservation Virginia (Bacon’s Castle, Jamestown Rediscovery), Jamestown Settlement, the Pamunkey Indian Tribe, the Rappahannock Indian Tribe, the Nottoway Indian Tribe, and the College of William & Mary, aim to promote renewed ideas and new research about the rebellion, highlighting voices that have previously been marginalized, including the ever important voice of the Indigenous Tribes that were targeted during the rebellion and the legal restrictions on free and enslaved Africans and African Americans that followed.
A series of lectures, programs, events, blogs and educational resources will be presented over the course of 2026. This website serves as a central information hub for the programs and will provide ongoing access to the lectures, research, teacher resources, and articles.
All lectures will be accessible online via a live stream ticket option and recorded for and future access. Please check this website for updates, ticketing information, and resources as they are made available.
