Torchbearer: A Story of Bacon’s Rebellion
Torchbearer: A Story of Bacon’s Rebellion is a new original musical based on the events that swept Virginia from 1675 to 1677. In a colony haunted by the shadow of regicide, old grudges and new tensions build to a conflagration that threatens everyone and everything it touches. Torchbearer examines the motives and fates of a broad cast of characters—rebel and royalist, rich and poor, male and female, White, Black, and Indigenous–each of whom is caught up by the rebellion in a different way. The thrilling drama is adapted from surviving first-person accounts and complemented by a compelling soundtrack that sweeps the audience through the terror and heartbreak of Virginia’s first civil war.
This event takes place at the Robins Foundation Theater, Jamestown Settlement, 2110 Jamestown Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23185. On September 25th and 26th, showings begin at 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm. On September 27th the showing begins at 3pm and the doors open at 2:30pm.
